On Saturday, October 6, several members of the track club & Satilla Cycling Club participated in a Metric Century (62 miles) bike ride during the annual 2007 Honeybee Festival. Partially made famous by Ray Steven’s “Shriners Convention”, Hahira, Georgia hosts this event, which drew thousands to partake of the food, shop for arts and crafts, and enjoy the entertainment.
The bike tour took the riders through Lakeland, the City of Murals, which depict the early life in Lanier County. The next stop was to the Nashville, the City of Dogwoods, and beautiful Berrien County. Then to Adel in Cook County, the home of scenic Reed Bingham State Park. And finally, back to Hahira and the welcoming throngs of supporters, including the Illustrious Potentate, Coy, Bubba, and the whole delegation. (by Ron Crosby)
